TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
THE ACT MUST BE SEEN AND HEARD
The main technical requirement for any visual performer who speaks during their show is that they are able to be seen and heard by the audience.
SMALL GATHERINGS
For small gatherings such as home birthday parties, strolling magic or events such as corporate boardroom presentations, generally there is no need for special sound or lighting equipment.
Chicane does not carry lighting equipment but does have available basic sound equipment powerful enough for a venue such as a school hall. A service fee may apply. Chicane also carries a smaller portable sound system that can be used where there is no need for a full set up.
LARGE EVENTS
For large events Chicane needs to use the house sound system and liaise with the sound and lighting engineers employed at the venue. A simple cue sheet for the show will be provided.
DO YOU NEED TO PROVIDE A STAGE?
Not all venues require a stage. The main criteria is that the act can be seen.
Portable staging components need to be secure and solid with stair access at the front where possible.
CONTROL OF HOUSE LIGHTS
Chicane uses audience participation as a feature of his presentations, and control of the house lights is essential for visibility and safety when volunteers need to move through the audience and come up on stage. A Follow Spot will enhance any performance in a large venue.
CHICANE’S PERSONAL SOUND EQUIPMENT
Chicane’s personal sound equipment that can be plugged in to the main mixing board if required, includes a headset microphone and iPod for music. Music can also be supplied on CD if that is preferred. Where a hand held radio mic is installed Chicane will provide a neck microphone holder so he can work with his hands free.
ADVISE DETAILS IN ADVANCE
Organisers and bookers please advise Chicane of all known details of the performing conditions as soon as possible and provide contacts for venue technical staff so he can check with them in advance.
